What are government incentives?

Asset 1-8
Under the Small-scale technology certificates (STCs) or ‘Incentives’ scheme, the Australian federal government pays you upfront for your system’s expected power generation up to the year 2030. This system is different from the solar feed in Tariff.

Federal government incentive

Through the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme, households installing solar are eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs). The scheme expires in 2030. Generally, the STC incentive is paid as an upfront discount on the price of the solar solution and is calculated based on the amount of electricity a system produces, the date of installation and location.

A feed-in tariff (FiT) is a credit that customers receive via their electricity retailer for any unused electricity that their solar power system sends back to the power grid.

Feed-in Tariffs.

When you send your excess solar energy back to the grid, the customer will receive a Feed-in Tariff (FiT) payment as a credit on your energy bill. The FiT is a rate that is set per kilowatt hour (kWh) and the rates vary depending on your retailer. The FiT helps households to keep a tab on any excess solar energy, so that it is not wasted. Credits = a reduction in electricity bills = lots of savings!
